VALUES & PHILOSOPHY

BIRTH VALUES

Physiology. I believe that birth works when given the space to unfold peacefully. If interventions become needed or desired, I will support you in ways that continue to honor the physiologic process.

Community. True support means fostering relationships beyond our contract. I will gladly connect you with other parents in the thick of it or professionals to guide your healing journey.

Honesty. Being honest with ourselves is often challenging. But honesty breeds authenticity and accountability. I will support you in identifying your own birth values and fostering strong communication skills to help you navigate your birth and postpartum experiences.

PHILOSOPHY OF CARE

Through our time together, I hope to foster your confidence - and your partner’s - so that you can think critically about your choices throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond. It is my hope that you feel like you are the one in the driver’s seat. This is your body, your baby, and your birth - no one else’s.

It is not my place to change your birth preferences. That being said, I value honesty. If I see that your birth values don’t align with the provider and birth place you’ve chosen, I will invite a conversation about that. I will encourage you to consult your intuition and will provide evidence-based research if you want more information before making a decision.

The childbearing continuum - pregnancy, birth, and postpartum - is a rite of passage, no matter how it unfolds or what the outcome is. I strive to honor that journey and transformation. When you reflect on your experience in the weeks and years that follow, I hope you smile fondly.

This is a safe space for birthing folks of all backgrounds, ethnicities, and orientations.
